This popular technique has helped Japanese people keep their skin younger looking for years. Read on to know more about it.
Despite your best efforts to avoid it, skin laxity is an inevitable consequence of aging. This occurs because as we age, our facial muscles become less elastic, collagen synthesis decreases, and our facial bones change shape. A fuzzier oval visage with drooping cheeks and chin is the end outcome. However, it's a certain type of facial massage that increases blood flow to the skin, making you seem younger for longer. Learn all about it by reading on!
Japanese doctor Chiyo Hayashi developed Korugi. It is a technique for massaging the face that stimulates the muscular and fat layers beneath the skin to slow the aging process. It is common knowledge that as we get older, our face muscles weaken or our bodies create less elastin and collagen, causing our skin to droop and lose elasticity and firmness. Yet, there's more to it than that. Korugi massage can lessen these signs of aging by boosting lymphatic drainage and circulation, toning and strengthening facial muscles, and decreasing subcutaneous fat buildup.
Lift Cheek
Put your elbows on the surface and unwind. Put your hands together in a fist and lay your thumbs and index fingers on your cheekbones. Your physical self must be at peace. Tend to this for five complete seconds before letting go.
Forehead Massage
Lift your chin and lean back on your head. Touch the pointed ends of your fingers together and press them against your forehead, right above your hairline. Maintain pressure as you move your hands along your hairline and toward the forehead and ear lobes. Carefully slide your hands down your neck until you reach your collarbones.
Cheek massage
Perform this exercise with the palms locked together, thumbs straight, and thumbs sides together. Under your left eye, near your nose, rest the tip of your right thumb. Press down and glide toward the ears to massage the skin. Next, run your thumb softly along the opposite side of your neck, starting at your ears and ending at your collarbones. Move over to the right edge of your face and do it all over again.
Forehead Polishing
You may do this by massaging in the direction of your hair while resting the knuckles of your fingers slightly above your brow. Raise your hands to your forehead once more, this time slightly off to one side, and smooth the entire region.
Brightening the eyes
Raise your eyebrows and make a fist. Use the fingertips of your index and middle finger to guide your palm down your nasal bridge and brow.
Apply pressure to the jawline
Make a fist with the knuckles bent while holding the index & middle fingers upright. Use these two fingers to carry them out. Use a forceful pulling motion to lift the skin off the jaw and temples. A nice place to start is in the corners of the lips. The distance between them should be small while pressing or pulling. Seven or eight such actions are about right.
