The trailer of ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ is out, and it takes you to the world of gangsters set in the 70’s Bombay.

The trailer of the much-anticipated web series Bambai Meri Jaan, produced by Farhan Akhtar, has finally been unveiled. The show stars Kay Kay Menon, Kritika Kamra, and Avinash Tiwary in lead roles, and depicts the conflict between Dara Kadri (Avinash Tiwary) and his father Ismail Kadri (Kay Kay Menon). While Dara Kadri is a rising gangster, Ismail Kadri is an honest police officer. The show is based in the 70’s Bombay underworld and depicts the rise of Dawood Ibrahim.

The trailer sees Ismail Kadri saying, "Seher saaf karte karte mera ghar ganda ho gaya," as the cop laments how the process of cleaning the city has instead stained his home. The show then unfolds the following years as his son transforms into a powerful gangster.

Watch the trailer of ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ here:

The exciting trailer starts off with Ismail recounting the story of how his son, brought to life and raised by an honest police officer, gets entangled in the world of gangsters. While Ismail Kadri aims to protect Bombay from the clutches of gangsters, his son gets trapped in their influence, thereby becoming an underworld gangster himself.

‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ also stars Nivedita Bhattacharya and Amyra Dastur in vital roles. The series is backed by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Media and Entertainment.

Sharing details of the show, Ritesh Sidhwani had previously said, “Set in the post-independence era, Bambai Meri Jaan chronicles the birth of the underworld in Mumbai against the backdrop of a free nation. Viewers will witness a gripping gangster thriller, exploring the classic, universal battle of good versus evil.”

Farhan Akhtar too shared the trailer of the web series on Instagram.

While ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ is created by Rensil D’Silva and Shujaat Saudagar, it is directed by Shujaat Saudagar. The show is all set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 14.

All about ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’

To say the least, if the bloody underbelly of Bombay is something that fascinates you, the Prime Video’s latest web series should be on your watchlist. In fact, the trailer of the 10-part series gives a glimpse of guns, glamour, and gang wars, which were a huge part of the 1960s and 1970s Bombay.

The dichotomy of the show is also inherent with a righteous cop trying to  cleanse the city from organised crime, and then finding his own son attracted to the underworld.

Talking about his role in the upcoming show, Kay Kay Menon said, "My character Ismail Kadri is multi-layered and complex. He is an honest cop and a doting father who isn't perfect. On one hand, he is deeply committed to cleaning the city of Bambai of all crime, on the other, to save his family, he is forced to become a pawn to the city's crime syndicate.

Avinash Tiwary too opened up about his character Dara in an interview and said, “I thought I didn’t have the capabilities to pull this off. But Dara came from a place of hunger, who took those ladders that came his way to become a place of power. Yes, he is a gangster and faces consequences for the same. But it’s also about the internal story, relationships and family. The entire experience to play this part and become Bambai ka naya Badshah was pretty cool.”

It is believed that ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ is based on a story by S. Hussain Zaidi, because as per the trailer, the show has a striking resemblance to his book, Dongri to Dubai, which chronicled the rise of Dawood Ibrahim, who was also the son of a cop. So, to know more, the audience has to wait for this drama until September 14.
